Which do chose, Outer Beauty or Inner Beauty?

"Don't choose the one who is beautiful to the world,
but rather choose the one that makes your world beautiful"
Chongetch Tumbir

In today's society we are so consumed by appearances. We read the fashion magazines, look at the fashion shows in Pairs and New York, line up for plastic surgery, follow fab diets, buy the right clothes and style our houses. But often inside we feel empty.

As women we are consumed by meeting the expectations and needs of others. Such as our partners and children, that we forget to nurture our interselves. We forget we are more than physical beings.

It is the people were spend our time with who shape our lives. If we are spending our time with people seeking outer beauty that will be our focus. However, if we choose to spend time with people who invest time in our our inner beauty we will shine form the inside out.

Which kind of beauty do you seek. I'm glad our Fashion Frenzy will centre around recycle clothing and making money to support others going through tough times.

Come on Girlfriends, Let's fight like a girl!

Today's Story of Inspiration

The Healing Power of a Child

My son was 2 years old when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. One of my greatest fears was whether or not he would recognize and feel comfortable around me without hair or the energy to play as much as we used to. Right after my first chemo my hair started falling out in clumps. I wore a hat around the house for a while until the day it got so bad I shaved my head. To ease my son into my new look we decided to play a hat game. My sister, husband and I sat in a circle with my son, all wearing silly hats and played a simple game of pass the hat to music. He caught glimpses of me without hair and after a few minutes walked over to me, took off my hat, rubbed my head and gave me a big wet sloppy kiss and cuddle. I knew at that moment everything would be alright...
To survivors - What a fight, I'm glad I can stand tall beside you.
To those who are fighting this disease now - I send you extra strength.
To those who have lost a loved one - I send you love and hope that one day soon we find a cure!

Clickers share stories of encouragement and hope . . .

Now I am almost a serial click I am reading about the 1000's of women around they world who are given hope by using one finger to click on sponsors icons. At all seems too simple for me at times. But women are leaving there messages of support and encouragement on the site so this small act is making a difference please become a clicker too.

Just one story from the site

Never give up hope

I'm one of your friends from across 'the pond' and have been clicking daily for over 6 years as I feel so lucky to be able to get free mammagrams here.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Nov. 2001 at the age of 51. I had a radical mastectomy (I was scraped to the bone) in Dec. 2001 and started chemo in Jan 2002. I had radiotherapy in May/June 2002 and returned to full time Primary school teaching in July. I was put on Tamoxifen while having my treatments which, by my request was later changed to Arimidex. I'd also been told it was in my lymph glands and there was nothing they could do. I retired in 2006 and was told at that time that I was not expected to survive my op and treatments by more than 10 years. I'm still on Arimidex, and will be for life, BUT I was given the all clear 2 years ago and only have check-ups once a year now - and my 10 years is up in December! Sooooo........NEVER give up, keep strong, keep fighting - mind over matter really is good with this terrible illness.
Love and best wishes to all you who are still battling on.

Today's Thoughts

You go girlfriend . . .

Hello, Beauty...

I don’t think we’ve ever really met.
You seem to call to me from covers of magazines, corners of the earth as the sun slips down, in the silence of the morning when I look into the mirror.
I’m drawn to you, always have been.
What little girl isn’t?
And yet I fear you too.
Because I don’t feel good enough, entitled to what you have.
Oh, others are…the cheerleaders and prom queen, Mary and Martha (Stewart).
But me?
It’s taken three decades to start discovering the truth.
I’ve been talking to Him about our relationship lately.
And I realized, dear Beauty…
We’re not enemies, we’re sisters.
We have the same Father.
He created us both.
Offered us as gifts to the world.
We both know what it’s like to be misunderstood, overlooked, broken.
We’re really more alike than different.
I’m so sorry for believing things about you that weren’t true, ignoring you because I was afraid.
Come here, sweet Beauty, let me see you for the first time the way I was meant to all along.
Oh, what a surprise for my soul!
I never knew…
The more I truly look at you, the more I see Him!

Today's Thought

As women we all struggle with our own self-worth you are important to me. You go girlfriend!

If you're not being treated with love and respect, check your "Price Tag". Perhaps you have marked yourself down. It's "YOU" who tells people what you're worth by what you accept. Get off the "Clearance Rack" and get behind the glass where they keep all the VALUABLES. . Bottom line is...VALUE yourself… more! Re-post if you like...you might help someone get off the CLEARANCE RACK!!

Why not buy something to wear on the night here?

Thought of the day

You all want a new phone, new clothes, make up, ect. A person with cancer only wants one thing, to survive. I know that alot of you "who think you're cool" probably won't re-post this, and very little amount of my friends will. Put this as your status in honour of someone who died of cancer, who survived cancer, or who is fighting against it now..

CO-HOSTING

To raise more money at Girl's Nights, girlfriends are now banding together to hold their Girls Night In and sharing the workload of organising the event. I would love to beat my fundraising total of $242 I raised last year. Together we know more people, that's more people we can invite. If you are interested in co-hosting the girl's night in could you message me via facebook    Thanks Deb
